One of the changes wrought by the anti-smoking legislation President Barack Obama signed into law two years ago is new power for the Food and Drug Administration to put frightening warnings on cigarettes and advertise against their danger more aggressively. Obama, who puffed the occasional cigarette himself for some years, seems to have taken the legislation and the ad campaign to heart; Michelle Obama said in February that he hadn’t smoked in nearly a year, though we would have no way of knowing if he’s fallen off the wagon since.
